Healing in a World on Fire

Seeing the Fires of Today as the Seeds of Tomorrow’s Hope

Dearest Gentle Reader,

In my life, I used to see things that happened to me that were bad as my fault or something that I did wrong. But in reflection, I realized that these were nudges to put me on my path like a way of saying, “Hey, this isn’t for you.” It was also an opportunity for me to close out cycles that were never meant for me; unconsciously passed down from generations before. I no longer see them as “bad” but as opportunities. An opportunity to find something that needed to heal.

Similar to society, a lot is going on. A lot of fires and bad things. I often tell my friends that the world is on fire (literally and figuratively). But I also follow up with, “The world events are a catalyst for something greater.” It allowed us to bring out wounds that never were healed and mend them. Today’s events are acting as a platform to show us what people think, what mistaken beliefs still run deep in our country, and what needs to be uprooted, poured love into, and healed. It is all necessary to evolve. Like growing pains. Granite, it’s a massive scale, but it is possible. It gives us an opportunity.

Historically, things live in a pendulum. The world operates from one extreme to another; for example, women’s health trends swing from being skinny to being curvy each decade. The political world swings from liberal to conservative. Trends react as a reaction to the last thing. Just like people and families. Parents raise their kids reacting to what they experienced at home (I will never do what my parents did), but inherently, all of it misses the point. The point is what is best for the given moment, the given generation, the given times. The point is love. Operate in a space that grows love. That makes decisions out of a growth mindset instead of reacting and fear.

Everything that is happening now is a catalyst for what is to come. It allows us to see things for how they are and how to choose better. Gives us an opportunity, as a country/company/citizens/people, to heal from things that were never meant for us and to be present and build towards a healing future— an opportunity to not react but to live.

Yours truly,
Lady Evans
